Ahead of the main HS2 works construction of the railway, the existing Calvert rail overbridge requires demolishing and then rebuilding. This bridge contains a number of existing utility services that require diverting under the HS2 railway and the existing railway line.

Fusion are currently halfway through its phase 2 programme of drilling works, however due to a combination of wet weather (early August 2021) and the ground conditions this has delayed the works. The remaining drilling works are now programmed to be completed by the end of November 2021 and will involve continued low impact weekend drilling works.

Due to the closure of Addison Road over bridge by Network Rail, the original intended diversion route for Calvert Road has now changed. An alternative route is proposed and is shown below and contained on the attached notification which is subject to final consents and approvals.

HS2 HGV construction traffic will not be permitted along the diversion route. Ahead of the diversion route being used, East West Rail will be undertaking highway repairs.

Access to the Calvert Road compound for HS2 deliveries will continue to be accessed along the approved HS2 route of Werner Terrace.

Network Rail is continuing to investigate the Addison Road over bridge. Further updates with be provided by Network Rail to the local community representatives in the coming weeks.

Subject to final consents, Calvert Road (and bridge) will be closed from Tuesday 12 October 2021 to Tuesday 9 November 2021. The road will be closed 24/7 where a local diversion route will be in place. The road closure is to allow for the open supported trenches to connect into the existing utilities.

Following this work, Brackley Lane will be closed in two sections to allow residents to have access. Due to the closure of Addison Road, the attached community notice has been issued to reflect the amended diversion route.
