HS2 and EWR meetings this week

20/08/2021

It's been a busy week for HS2 and EWR meetings. I attended the East West Rail Community Forum on Monday which was chaired by our MP, Greg Smith. East West Rail has addressed many issues raised in the previous meeting but many new items were raised including the state of local roads and the maintenance schedule. https://www.gregsmith.co.uk/news/greg-chairs-east-west-rail-action-plan-update-meeting

Tuesday included a meeting with other local parish council representatives and the HS2 Minister where we were able to raise local concerns. https://www.gregsmith.co.uk/news/greg-shows-hs2-minister-local-hs2-failings-first-hand. This meeting was arranged by our MP, Greg Smith and follows his work to have our community hear at the Transport Select Committee in January. https://www.google.com/search?q=phil+gaskin+hs2&client=firefox-b-d&source=lnms&tbm=nws&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjogdCBisDyAhVioFwKHecNCWAQ_AUoAXoECAEQAw&biw=2560&bih=1287

And on Wednesday (along with the Section 17 detailed design planning application for HS2 in our area), I met with other local parish council representatives with a group of HS2 representatives led by Ambrose McGuire. This was a very productive meeting organised by Roger Landells (Chair of Twyford parish council) and was held at Calvert Green Community Centre. Many issues were discussed and actions taken by HS2.
