Planning Applications for Dunsty Hill Farm

08/01/2021

Following the housing survey from the developer who owns Dunsty Hill Farm, they have now submitted two planning applications. Neither of these applications relate to affordable housing which was previously discussed. Instead they relate to alterations to an existing barn and a change of use for the farm to catagory C1 for hotel flexible use.

"Highbarrow Holdings is seeking to obtain approval for the re-use of two of the redundant barns at Dunsty Hill Farm but this does not affect our plans for the Rural Exception Site application. We intend to submit the Rural Exception Site application in early 2021.

We obtained a lawful development certificate for the smaller barn in the summer, the current application is for minor works to make it fir for a B1c use, the objective is to have 3 small light-industrial units there.

We will also be looking to obtain ‘prior approval’ for the larger steel barn to use it as either an apart-hotel or commercial use. This prior approval application will confirm that the use is ‘permitted development’. If this is approved, we will then submit a subsequent application for external works to make that barn fit for purpose.

The re-use of the agricultural buildings is actively encouraged by national planning legislation – measures are therefore in place to allow such uses without the need for a traditional planning application"

The Parish Council will be responding to these applications, but the planning applications are accessible everyone and we would encourage you to review the information and submit your own comments.
